Abhishek Bachchan Against Orkut!!

Recently i read in the newspaper, 'Abhishek Bachchan against Orkut for youth icon'!Firstly, Abhishek Bachchan as youth icon!!!! What for????..What has he done?..What has he done that the youth should look upto him??...Is it because he wears a funky hairband? which i think looks pathetic most of the times or is it because he has married Aishwarya Rai? now that may be a lesson for some of the guys...that you should marry a girl who is rich and famous, basically a woman who is more successful than you, have 'aish' with all her cash and follow her like a puppy everywhere she goes..or is it because he did a 'Guru'? which was an imitation of Dhirubhai Ambani.. though it was a commendable performance..But still Abhishek Bachchan!..seriously i dont think he fits the bill..
Secondly, Orkut!!!!...again a big ?...why????....I agree orkut is a good social networking site with certain obvious advantages but as they say every coin has two sides and when i look at the other side i can see that its a place for the jobless, its got some really wierd communities filled in with total crap and lots of creeps from various countries...Recently, i had been to the income tax office and there i saw some of the employees glued on to orkut leaving all their work aside!...Is that what a youth icon supposed to do? distract you from your work..i dont think so...
Neither Abhishek Bachchan nor orkut, none of them deserve even to be nominated...

The Fourth Seat

Though i feel the length of the seats in 1st class and 2nd class compartments of the local trains is the same, the seats of 1st class may appear to be bigger, may be because they are cushioned. But the 'fourth seat' is the favourite...I travel by 1st class and every second day i get to witness a fight over the fourth seat..
So here comes a female and asks the 3 people who are sitting comfortably, to shift, the first thing that she gets is a look of disgust (oh god!..ab iske liye shift hona padega..), then they shift and the lady sits there, she is almost falling off but somehow manages probably becuase she is tired but after sometime she runs out of patience becuase the lady next to her complains that she is pushing her! ( now i think its a little obvious considering the tiny portion alloted to her ) so she snaps back..
what else do you expect ha? if you want to sit with your legs wide apart, why dont you travel by your private car ha?
..Look at the way she is fighting!, this just shows what a nuisance you are..a pain to the society...blah blah blah..
Oh my god!..on the other hand, when i travel by 2nd class, i always find that 4 people are comfortably sharing the seat without any dumb catfights...I wonder whats the reason for the difference..i have noticed something and this is a bit funny and wierd but its a fact, the people travelling by 2nd class are thinner than the people travelling by 1st class..:) seriously they are..may be thats why they fit in ...:)
But all in all, travelling by local trains is immensely entertaining...and yes i 'love' the 'fourth seat'..:)

Wow! An Air Conditioned Local Train!

I have referred to this in one of my earlier blogs 'Mumbai local Trains', finally they are including the private sector to run a service that forms the very spine of life in a metro like Mumbai. Its a little unfair that the new train would be run only between Churchgate and Borivili but i guess its ok because this is just the introduction, i hope the services would be extended to the other lines too. Finally, i can hope for a pleasant train journey which anyways even now is absolutely 'rocking'!( I am an 'ardent' daily commuter, hence the 'love' for local trains...)

Media's Mania

After a very long period of boring exams ( my B.Pharm. is finally over, 4 yrs..a roller coaster ride..thts a different story btw ), finally i get to read the newspaper 'peacefully', so i open it n what do i see..Shilpa Shetty!...posing for a picture with some 'firangs' or may be indians who try to like 'firangs'...Well i think we all know that Ms. Shetty is a mediocre actor, actually less than mediocre and her career graph has been as flat as a paper dosa but ever since 'Big Brother' happened to her she is in seventh heaven...ok fine, very good, she did a very good job there in handling all the racial crisis...but its been a long time now and we dont want to know anymore about her. As such the 'Bombay Times' on sundays is full of nonsense and to add to it the tarot card reader reads Ms.Shetty's cards and the conclusion is put up as a separate article..plssss..we are really not interested in knowing how she can make a fortune of her sudden popularity!
The next two are media's biggest obsession, the newly married..'Abhiash'..as they call them, seriously it sounds horrible..anyways after following them even on their honeymoon..finally its Cannes time, Ms.Rai who has been there before, this time as Mrs., is seen with her hubby...ok i agree Abhishek Bachchan is good, but he is nothing as compared to his wife when it comes to popularity and i think, standing with her on the red carpet, he looks like her driver/servant! Whatever, we have had enough of these two, no more 'Abhiash' plssss..

The thing called 'Valentine's Day'....

14th Feb, Valentine's Day...decidedly its one of the most interesting days of the year and I am saying this despite the fact that I am single. I find it interesting because you get to see a lot of action.
Weeks before VD, the newspapers, radio stations, television, etc start nagging us with all sorts of ads and other pre-valentine and valentine preparations. You get to see ads of all the valentine parties, gifts which you can possibly buy for your valentine, to do lists, not to do lists, how to dress up perfectly for that perfect date, your horoscope in sunday times, love qoutient of all sun signs, whether the week ahead will be romantic for you or not?...
A day before 14th people start asking you, 'so whats ur plan for tommorrow, anything special?..are u coming to college or going out on a date?'...oh! whatever it is, even if I am going somewhere why should I tell you and even if I am not going anywhere you won't believe it, so why bother? huh! whatever...
The beginning of the day itself is quite interesting.... I travel by train everyday and even on normal days the discussions that you get to hear is much beyond being just interesting. The various comments on the colour of the dress that you are wearing, women complaining about how thier husbands forget it every year then say sorry 10 times, the discussion about the gifts they recieve from their hubbys, their evening plans, all the teasing, giggling that goes on....
Then I reach college, and you see all of us either dressed up in red or pink, giving chocolates to each other, hosting silly contests like 'make a proposal contest' and 'best couple contest'. Everywhere you are surrounded with stuff that keeps reminding you that today is valentine's day...
And amongst all this celebration, we have shiv sena's agitation, this part is kind of funny but its irritating for all the shopkeepers who hope to earn a good profit by selling all the lovey-dovey stuff. Everybody wonders what is wrong with these crazy shiv sainiks, why are they so against VD...even I dont know....a set of people who dont want this western culture in India, a bunch of hypocrates or may be because they themselves have failed in love...I dont know...Recently, I saw the film 'Anwar', the film has tried to find some reasons for why all the protests take place, if you see the film you will realise that the reasons, if they are true, are kind of funny..
But whatever it is, this whole valentine thing is not all that bad, definitely not something you need to protest against...I am not the anti-valentine's day type but I dont believe in extreme elaborate celebrations, may be I am saying this because I dont have anyone to celebrate it with...

Well, I am not trying to make any point out of all this....I would just say that all those people who are in love are very beautiful, hope they continue to be in love...God bless you all and the others too [after all, the others have managed to be out of love all this while:)]...

The option 'delete' is decidedly interesting, wish there would be one such option for deleting some chapters of my life.

Do Not Quit

I read ET for the same reason as all others do but the Cosmic Link-up column always ends up giving words which leave you pondering, 'Do Not Quit" is something i believe in....

Look within

The other I went to churchgate along with my frnds to collect forms for the Ratan Tata scholarship. After that as usual we all went to the juice center. Opposite to that shop is a very beautiful church called Bombay church. I went there alone as then no one else seemed to be interested in joining me. After I came back my frnds asked me where i had gone n now they also wanted to go. Just then one of them asked , does anyone here know the exact rules we need to follow inside. I asked her why do you need to follow rules. You dun need to follow any rules to interact with god. I believe god is within us....look within n ull find him with you always. All that u need is a clean heart n honesty....just close your eyes n you dun even need to go to any particular place for worship...
anyways i dont know whether they found someone to explain the rules, I was done n i left for the station.

stupid process n only 200 seats through GATE with hardly 1 or 2 seats in the desired subject..hah wonder whats the future of all those who wanna do it..
n they had a rally n protest n stuff, when nothing worked out in OBC-qouta case then...

Mumbai local trains

They are the lifeline of mumbai, can't imagine Bombay without local trains...by the way, government is deciding to involve the private sector in running the locals, wonder how different the services would be!
As a kid I was really scared of local trains and I always used to wonder whether i'll be able to travel alone ever...but as they say life teaches you everything...now I am a daily commuter and I love it though I get irritated at times because of the rush and i travel 'alone'...all alone, amidst all the rush...people always ask me ,arpita dont you get bored travelling alone..such a long distance without any company and I just say that I have got used to it...after all I have been doing it for years...its just that it was not in a train...and i guess it will always be like this...my journey as a loner.

wish love could be more logical

My friends say I am an emotional person and going by that I should be absolutely convinced with the fact that love is not logical after all its an emotion....but still i wish the head could rule the heart even in this case
but I guess its just isn't like that...and thats why its said 'people FALL in love'!
